Brandon Blenkarn graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law as the bronze medalist for the class of 2023. He is currently serving his period of articles under the mentorship of Mr. Dino Bottos, K.C.

During law school, Brandon focused on criminal law, completing courses in evidence, criminal procedure, sentencing and advocacy. Brandon was the recipient of the Professor Bill Angus Prize in Criminal Law for achieving the highest academic standing in first-year Criminal Law and Procedure. In his final year, he represented the University of Alberta at Canada’s premiere criminal law appellate moot, the Gale Cup, winning a prize for ‘Best Team Not in Finals.’

Throughout law school, Brandon volunteered with Student Legal Services of Edmonton, a low-income legal clinic dedicated to providing free legal representation to those in need in Edmonton and the surrounding areas. This allowed Brandon exposure to conducting summary criminal matters in the Alberta Court of Justice.

Prior to law school, Brandon completed an undergraduate degree in psychology with a focus on first-responders. Brandon then served several years as a Military Police Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. Following this experience, Brandon completed a Master’s Degree and briefly worked full-time as a CrossFit and strength and conditioning coach. Brandon is currently heavily involved locally in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Brandon understands that being charged with a criminal or regulatory offence can be an intimidating and stressful process. He is happy to speak with you anytime, free of charge.
