Bottos Law defence lawyer Will van Engen successfully defended his client, Daniel Viau, against accusations that he sexually assaulted two clients of his in 2016. Justice Dunlop of the Court of King’s Bench agreed with the defence argument that it was “unlikely neither sister witnessed the alleged assaults despite sitting nearby.”
As Mr. van Engen told reporters later: “ Not only did they not observe what took place, they didn’t observe anything untoward, anything unusual, nothing that struck them as odd about the encounter.” Mr. Viau felt vindicated by the decision and was thankful to the judge for staying true to the presumption of innocence.
